Turkey is a beautiful and huge country, perfect to be explored by car!
From the most amazing beaches to the most breathtaking natural parks full of nature and green landscapes...
Fethiye to Antalya
Driving time: 5 hours
Distance: 300 KM
Head Southeast, to the Turkish Riviera to the city of Fethiye, known for its lovely beaches at Oludeniz. Fethiye is the starting point for the Lycian Way. Here you can either hike for the Lycian Way or drive through the amazing roads next to the sea and stop for a refreshing dive in the crystal clear sea
The best stops are: the Butterfly Valley, Kas, Kalkan, Çirali, Kemer, Olympos and the ruins of Patara. Antalya is known for its delightful beaches and stunning views of the towering Toros Mountains, but there's plenty of culture to enjoy away from the beach. Pass through the massive triumphal arch at Hadrian's Gate into the city's charming historic district Kaleiçi
Trabzon to Savsat
Driving time: 4 and half hours
Distance: 300 KM
Head East along the coast road. At Hopa, close to the Georgian border (you'll recognize it: all the women will be wearing vivid red and maroon striped shawls), head inland and upwards, through lush tea plantations reminiscent of Darjeeling in India. Once over the pass, the difference is instant and dramatic. In the space of 100 metres the cool, damp air gives way to the furnace of Eastern Anatolia and green becomes brown as far as the eye can see. Drop into the town of Artvin and climb the loose-gravel road out of the dust bowl, twisting in between the overladen trucks. At the next pass, all becomes green and cool once more, with lush meadows filled with Alpine flowers and Swiss-style timber chalets. Only 300kms, but it feels like you've crossed several continents
