Being established for military purposes in 1912, Ataturk Airport was opened to international flights in 1985. Being restored on 10 Jan. 2010, Ataturk Airport got its current state with 20.000 passengers in a year. Transfer from/to Ataturk Airport can be provided by taxi, metro, bus and private transfers.

Istanbul Airport Taxi: Opening fee is 2,95 TL in the taxis working in Istanbul. They charge 1,83 TL per km. They also charge for waiting process in heavy traffic. Fee for waiting process is 0,30 TL per minute. If the running speed of taxi is between 0 and 10 km., they still charge for the waiting process. Bridge tolls and road tolls belong to the customer. Total amount differs according to the traffic and waiting process.

Istanbul Metro: Aksaray-Airport Metro Line which is operated by Istanbul Transportation Inc. serves between 06:00 and 24:00. It serves in every 3 or 5 minutes. Total trip takes around 25 km. Passing through Aksaray, Emniyet - Fatih, Topkapi - Ulubatli, Bayrampasa - Maltepe, Sagmalcilar, Kartaltepe - Kocatepe, Esenler Otogar, Terazidere, Davutpasa - YTU, Merter, Zeytinburnu, Bakirkoy - Incirli, Bahcelievler, Atakoy - Sirinevler, Yenibosna and DTM Istanbul Fuar Merkezi metro reaches to Ataturk Airport and total trip takes around 30 or 40 minutes. One ride costs 4 TL per token per person and 2,15 TL per one use of Istanbul Card per person. You can take token for your transportation from the machines which are located in each station. You can use 0,50 TL, 1 TL, 5 TL, 10 TL, 20 TL and 50 TL to take token from the machines. You can make transfer from Aksaray-Airport Metro Line to Bagcilar-Kabatas Tram Line to go to Topkapi, Laleli, Beyazit, Sultanahmet, Sirkeci and Karakoy. Zeytinburnu and Aksaray stations are the ones used for transfer but the favorite one for the transfer is Zeytinburnu.

Airport Bus: HAVATAS which is a foundation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality provides bus services between Taksim and Ataturk Airport regularly. They serve in every half an hour between 04:00 and 01:00. Service charge including luggage is 10 TL per person. Total trip takes around 30 or 60 minutes depending on the traffic. Point of departure in Taksim is in front of Point Hotel. Point of departure in Ataturk Airport is on the second strip when you leave the departure gate B.
