Used to get from and to the airport
Had to wait for a while at the airport for a driver.
On the return journey the driver was waiting at the hotel on time (5:00am!)

Arter

ARTER has been presenting solo and group exhibitions with the goal of providing a platform of visibility for artistic practices and encouraging production of contemporary artworks. Though large, bright and well-lit, Arter is displayed more like a studio than a museum. The building that hosts ARTER is also quite notable. It is situated on Istiklal Avenue, and is it was built in the 1910s by Petraki Efendi, one of the architects of the 6th Municipal District Office. It was recently restored and opened in 2009.

The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts

It contains Turkish and Islamic Arts and is known as the last museum that opened in the Ottoman Period. The foundation of the museum was commissioned as a result of continuous steal of artworks from various trust bulidings, mosques, masjids, takas and sbrines from all over the country.

The gallery at Santral is a good bet for a cultural pit-stop on a boat trip up the Golden Horn. The curators put together exhibitions on eclectic international subjects, from German architecture to Italian design and Colombian contemporary art, with the focus switching occasionally to subjects taught at Bilgi University, which occupies most of this enormous converted Ottoman power station.
